This report evaluates the implementation of recommendations made in a 2014 report regarding the use of force by and against the police in Sint Maarten. Out of thirteen recommendations, six were fully implemented, two were partially addressed, and five were not acted upon. Key issues include the lack of established complaint procedures, inconsistent reporting of force incidents, and the absence of a formalized arms policy within the police force. The report emphasizes the need for the Ministry of Justice and the Police Force to prioritize these unaddressed areas to ensure better oversight, compliance with regulations, and the safety of both police officers and the public.
