St. MaartenMarch 2020Report
This report reviews the implementation of recommendations made in a 2014 report on the admission and expulsion of foreign nationals in St. Maarten. Out of six recommendations, only one was fully implemented, one partially implemented, and four were not addressed. The recommendations covered areas such as improving the registration and tracking system for immigration cases, formalizing and publishing policies, and enhancing staff knowledge on document verification. The report calls for renewed efforts by the Ministry of Justice to address these issues, particularly the need for better coordination with other ministries and the formalization of immigration policies to ensure effective enforcement and compliance.
