2016 — Adult probation: a follow-up inspection.

St. MaartenApril 2016Report
This follow-up study (review study) concerns the probation of adults in St. Maarten. The inspection focuses on evaluating the manner in which the service or institution has followed up on the sixteen recommendations of the Council from 2013. The inspection shows that the majority of the recommendations have been followed up and that in most cases the results intended with the recommendations have been achieved. A tight capacity, which leads to bottlenecks in implementation (at KPSM) or to certain choices (at SJIB), has an influence on the failure to achieve the intended result. The Council is very positive about the extent to which the SJIB and the ministry have made efforts to follow up on the recommendations, and urges those responsible to promptly address the recommendations that have not been (fully) followed up.
