This inspection report investigates how human trafficking and human smuggling are tackled in Curaçao and what improvements are needed. The report describes the national and international legislation and cooperation agreements that apply to the fight against human trafficking and human smuggling. There are various bottlenecks, such as a lack of sufficient budget and resources, that limit the effectiveness of the approach. The report makes recommendations for improved cooperation, legislation and preventive measures to strengthen the approach to human trafficking and smuggling. The Council concludes that although efforts are being made, significant improvements are still needed to effectively combat these forms of crime.
