2017 — Investigation into the cooperation between the prosecution offices of Curaçao, Sint Maarten, and Bonaire, Sint Eustatius, and Saba
CuraçaoMay 2018Report
This report examines the cooperation between the public prosecutor's offices, with an emphasis on those in-depth specializations. This involves both choices for developing specialisms and the use of each other's specialized expertise. This report includes the results of the research. The Council recommends permanent support for in-depth specializations to improve stability and cooperation between public prosecutor's offices. However, there is uncertainty about what exactly is expected of depth specialists, and a clear vision of their role and commitment is lacking. The Council also advocates targeted training opportunities, because specialists currently have to indicate their training needs themselves. Furthermore, the Council recommends a reconsideration of the existing specialisms, especially given the importance of international forms of crime such as drug trafficking and corruption, in order to strengthen cooperation within the Public Prosecution Service.
