2014 — Approach to combating armed robberies in Curaçao
CuraçaoDecember 2015Report
Filed under: Investigation & Prosecution Management
This report describes the fight against atrako's (robberies) in Curaçao and provides recommendations for improvement. The Council notes that the policy includes both preventive and repressive aspects, but there are bottlenecks in the implementation, such as insufficient staff, limited cell capacity and shortcomings in internal support and finances. The Atrako team, which is responsible for investigating robberies, has to deal with limited resources and inefficiency in processes such as file formation and cooperation with external services. The Council recommends increasing the personnel and material capacity, improving the cell capacity and strengthening the support of the Atrako team. Furthermore, the coordination and implementation of investigation processes must be optimized.
